c6711 DSK : Input not working

Started by mandar October 9, 2008
I am a novice at using the c6711 DSK. Recently, I have tried to run a
few basic programs on it, such as the sine wave output using polling,
et cetera. The programs invloving ONLY outputs work fine, such as
getting a sine/swuare wave at the output. However, when I try to run
even the tiniest program involving *inputs*, they do not run. Could
some of you list the possible causes for this? Also, I read about the
LED lights that flash when you first start up the CPU, which indicate
the DSK testing its inputs and outputs. All of these tests seem to be
fine for my DSK (including the ones involving input and output). Thus,
inspite of this, my DSK refuses to take in a proper input. Please advice.

Your help in this regard will be greatly appreciated

Mandar
mandar,

Are you using the Bios?
Are you writing in asm, C, C++?
Are you using the CSL library to access the GPIO pins?

Please post the code, with the good output code and the failing input code
Then, maybe we can help you debug the problem.

I think that you have probably over generalized your problem. My guess
is the only input that you have tried is from the audio channel. This
would make the problem area be [1] the audio input channel or [2]
user/program error.

If you have an item under the GEL tab like "Check DSK", you can
perform the following for therapy:
1. Run "Check DSK" and note the 'switches' value.
2. Change the dip switch setting and rerun "Check DSK".
3. Compare the 2 values and observe that you were able to 'input' the switches.

What are you using for input??
Have you verified that you actually have an input signal of the
correct amplitude??

The DSK specific examples will run correctly when setup correctly.
