DM642 VGA output

Started by flash7gold May 28, 2009
HI !!!
I am working with board DM642 EVM (v3). My VGA output doesn't work, and i don't know why. I don't have another board to compare if it is hardware or software problem. So i have question to You.

My monitor when is connected to board behaves like unconnected. I mean there is displayed picture which means it is unconnected.
My question is : if you connect monitor to vga output of board which is reseted, without any program loaded, monitor behave like connected or not.

That information would help me a lot.

regards

Flash

Hi,
First thing you can do is that monitor sync signals Hsync,Vsync on VGA port
if they are not present then monitor will not show as connected.
It will be better to check all VGA signals and compare them with standard.

Ruturaj.

Hanief,

Is the horizontal or vertical sync out of range?

In any case, an oscilloscope will let your know the current timing (sync is
timing) values.
You can then adjust the video output parameters to correct the values to
something the monitor can recognize.
*I* would start by setting the vertical sync pulse rate.
For most monitors, the vertical sync pulse rate is 50 or 60 hertz.
(for a composite video signal, the vertical sync pulse is the long period of
full 'blanking' signal level)

Hi R. Williams,
I was just answering Flash's question. But I suppose your answer would help him.
Cheers,
