XDS510-USB2.0 + C6726 - Problem to connect...

Started by tatianobusatto March 4, 2010
Hi all,

I have a XDS510-USB2.0 TI DSP Emulator like the iten number 270438990974 on www.ebay.com and a custom board with dsp C6726. The problem is that the emulator can't connect my target board.

I am currently using Windows XP SP3. The system I have installed is CCS3.3.38.2 and I have used CCS Setup to add "C672x XDS510 Emulator" to my system configuration. This configuration provides a BYPASS_0 processor type and a TMS320C6720_0 processor type with driver "tixds6000.drv". I have changed Property/Configuration File
with "XDS510-USB2.cfg" provided with the Emulator, saved and quit.

Then while starting the CCS3.3 it is showing the error below:

Error connecting to the target:
Error 0x80000200/-180
Fatal Error during: OCS,
This error was generated by TI's USCIF driver.

SC_ERR_CTL_NO_TRG_POWER <-180>
The controller has detected a target power loss.
The user may have failed to turn-on or connect its source.
Sequence ID: 0
Error Code: -180
Error Class: 0x80000200
I/O Port = 0

Board Name: C672x XDS510 Emulator
Cpu Name: TMS320C6720_0

Abort: Close Code Composer Studio.
Retry: Try to connect to the target again.
Cancel: Remain disconnected from the target
Diagnostic: Run diagnostic utility.

Looking the error, the I/O port = 0 is diferent from the I/O port I configured in the CCS Setup (I/O port = 0x240). My gess is that the
problem is something related to the drivers.

I have tried with different CCS configurations but nothing changes.

Referring to the hardware, I inserted a probe to check all JTAG signals between my target board and the emulator and found that the TMS, TSR, TDI, TDO, PD, /TRST, EMU0 amd EMU1 are at 3.3V. Also the pins TCK and TCK_RET are with signal clock. To me seems that the board is fine.

Anyone who develop applications on the C672x and use this emulator had the same problem?
Does somebody know what I have to do in order to solve problem?

Please give me a light.

Thanks in advance

The SC_ERR_CTL_NO_TRG_POWER error occurs under 2 conditions [that I am
aware of]:
1. No voltage on PD pin.
2. The incorrect IO address or driver [causing the sw not to detect the PD
voltage].

Also, you did not mention the manufacturer of the emulator - that could be
important.

I have used TI XDS560 [PCI], BlackHawk XDS560USB, Spectrum Digital
XDS510USB, and Kane PCMCIA emulators with C672x and DA devices.
