MSP430 not recognized by emulator

Started by ahme...@yahoo.com July 28, 2010
Hello all,
I hv a Lyrtech DM648EVM which has on board MSP430 with a JTAG support for programming. I hv recently purchased TI MSP-FET430UIF (USB) programmer for it with the IAR kick start(EWB). The problem is, on board MSP430 controller is not recognised by Emulator although I have followed all the instructions. Is there any other HW/SW needed (in addition to one I hv)to Program on Board MSP430?

Waiting for ur reply
Ahmed

The TI MSP-FET430UIF should program any MSP430 target when properly
connected.
1. Are you connecting to the MSP430 JTAG connector?? [It is different than
the DM648 JTAG connector]
2. Does Lyrtech furnish any info about programming the MSP430??
If their docs don't say anything and they do not furnish the source code, it
is possible that they have blown the security fuse to keep the contents
secret.
3. Are there any Lyrtech DM648EVM users lurking out there who have accessed
or programmed the MSP430??
4. Do you have access to any other MSP430 targets to verify your FET??

NOTE:
I do not have much experience with the MSP430.
I have not used the Lyrtech DM648EVM.

1. Yes i am connecting to MSP430 JTAG connector.
2. Lyrtech didn't provide any information as to how to program On Board MSP430.
3. No I just have the unprogrammed IC with DM648EVM Lyrtech board. I haven't tested it with other target device, According to device manager window and Catalog provided with the emulator it (MSP-FET430UIF) seems fine.
