speech coding on TMS320c6711 DSK - help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Started by Vignesh Krishnan April 18, 2003
Dear C6x enthusiasts,
We are interested in doing speech
coding namely LPC 10 using the TMS320C6711 DSK. We are
novices and have never used a DSP microprocessor
before. We are using Code Composer Studio ver 2.1 .
We have written all the necessary routines required
for doing LPC in C. Now we want to know how to access
the speech input coming through the DSK's audio input
jack and hence don't know how to output it. Our
routines written in C assume that blocks (say of size
160 samples each ) of data are available for
processing. We want to know how we can access such
speech blocks and how to output such blocks to the
audio output. We will be very happy if somebody can
explain how to do this or point us to any place where
we can look.

Thank you
vk

Hi Vignesh ,

It is very easy.

The best option is to use EDMA transfers.

Maybe in the future you require REAL TIME PROCESSING , EDMA transfer is the
unique option.So learn it.

There is a very good example about How to Use EDMA transfers:

It is an old example that comes with CCS 1.0 ( I think) , I looked in the
web and you can find it :

http://www.rose-hulman.edu/Class/ee/yoder/ece581/iw6000/labs/bsl/dsk_example
s/codec/edma/Dsp/

the code is codec_edma.c

If it is your first using EDMA transfers , do not worry . It is easy , you
have to learn the PDF files :

TMS320C6000 Peripherals
Reference Guide
Literature Number: SPRU190D

See EDMA Controller.

Cheers,

Claudio
