I am using a modified
(cut from 150 Mhz to 100 Mhz) 6711 DSK card.
Currently I use the parallel port to load programs and debug.
I want to use an XDS510 (ISA) card and the JTAG connector on the DSK card
to communicate instead. When I connect the JTAG cable up to
the connector and reset XDS510 I get a verified reset for the port.
However anytime that I try and run code composer studio (CCS) I get a
“fail to init error” and have to abort. The board
works normally with CCS if I communicate with it through the normal parallel
port and since the reset command works I assume my XDS card and cable/pod are
functioning. Does anyone have any suggestions on what may be
the problem? Also, when I connect the JTAG the TBC_IN_USE light which is
normally on goes off. Is this a clue or normal? Thanks for
any help. Cheers!

Have you still got the parallel port connected to the
DSK when you are trying to use the XDS510?
The DSK has an IC switch that selects between
parallel connector and JTAG header. If it still selecting the parallel connector
then the XDS510 will not find the CPU on the scan path and so CCS will fail to
initialize.
