DSK6711 and microcontroller 8051

Started by Nalin K Pithwa May 12, 2004

Hi,

I am doing a project on TMS320C67x DSP starter kit with CCS2.1 on
Win98. Simultaneouly, I have to code an 8051 microcontroller with
a flash. Can I install the 8051 boards/software on the same PC
which contains the C67x installation/CCS2.1. Will it create any
conflicts ? Or would it better to install the 8051 boards/software
on a separate computer ?

I would be deeply obliged if someone can answer my question.

Regards,
Nalin Pithwa

I don't think you will have any conflicts with two different environments as
long as they use different PC resources (paralel and serial port). Anyway
you may consider upgrading CCS to v2.21, much more efficient in terms of PC
CPU usage than 2.1. Regards,

Pablo

Hi Nalin,

I have done similar interfacing, Interfacing c6711 DSK to MSP430 microcontroller. The deal with me was I needed a parallel port for DSK as well as microcontroller and I dindt have extra parallel port to interface both of them ( nor cud I find appropriate extension slot or card or something) so I had to use 2 pc's.

But if you have enough ports to interface both of them simultaneously thru one pc then there is no need for another pc.

I havent ventured out in that direction ( as in connecting 2 borads to same pc) , so someone who already has mite be more helpful then me.

Hope this helps,

Tarang
