Obituary:Dr.Rulph Chassaing

Started by Bhooshan Iyer May 15, 2005
Dear All--
I learnt this morning from Andrew Chassaing(Son) that Dr.Rulph
Chassaing,60, passed away suddenly. This is a very sad day for all us
who have known him in whatever little way. He was a gentleman who
touched people's lives effortlessly, even those who lived far away in
another world, like me.

I wish that I could do something to comfort his family.

I quote from:

http://www.projo.com/tennis/content/projo_20050513_13tencol.239a510.html

"There will be calling hours on Tuesday from 4 to 6 PM in the
Smith-Mason Funeral Home, 398 Willett Avenue Riverside with a
celebration of his life at 6 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions to the Providence Animal Rescue League, 34 Elbow Street,
Providence 02903, would be appreciated. Visit smithmason.com"

May his soul rest in peace.

"I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career.
I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times I've been trusted to take the
game winning shot and missed.
I've failed over and over again in my life.
And that is why I succeed."

I was extremely taken aback to learn about this. He helped me
profusely
during my Master's degree at LSU, when I barely knew anything about DSP.
His
textbook served as the Bible, that drew me into DSP. I am convinced that
my
career at Texas Instruments would not have been possible without him. I
had
a brief opportunity to help him when he started writing a book about
C64x.

I missed an opportunity to meet him in person and thank him for all
his help.
I will remain ever indebted for all his help. He has replied on
numerous occaasions
via e-mail to many of my questions. May his soul rest in peace.

Andrew,
Please accept my condolences, and remember that your father will
forever
remain in our hearts, by the way he inspired us by action to help, and
to continue
helping anybody who had a thirst for knowledge. Please accept my sincere
respects at
a time of mourning.
