Hi to all,
I am a DSK 6713 user. I have been reading many documents about
codec and mcbsp programming. I thought that codec and mcbsp were internally
connected, so that it is neccessary to program both peripherals. But I have seen
an example which uses only codec to connect the board to headphones.
Can I use these peripherals by separate or I need both to work??
Thanks for all,
Pablo L.

McBSP means "multichannel buffered serial port", a 6713 onchip peripheral. On the
DSK board two (2) McBSP ports are connected to the AIC23B codec chip, one control
port and one data port. To program the codec, a series of words is written by DSP
code to registers in the codec, using the control port.
The AIC23B has 2 input channels and 2 output (a "stereo codec"). The headphones
connector is tied to one of the output channels.
