Address Bus for SRAM in TMS320C6727

Started by vako...@intracomdefense.com June 12, 2007
Hello.

I am new in the field and I have some questions about connecting an SRAM in the EMIF.

Since the EMIF has only a 13 bit wide address bus, it is only possible to directly connect 2^13 = 8 Kwords SRAM or flash. I want more than that!

The document spru711c gives a detailed wiring in the case of a 512 Kwords flash memory that can be connected to the DSP and it is the same with an SRAM. It uses some GPIO for the upper address bus pins of the flash memory.

What I am asking is if the SRAM would work fine with this, since the GPIO are too slow in any DSP, is it wise to use them for address bus pins? Wouldn't this greatly reduce the speed of the SRAM, which is used mostly for fast accesses?

Can anyone tell me what I am thinking wrong, or propose something?

Thank you very much.
