DOA based beamformer

Started by krish_dsp November 11, 2008
Hi everyone,
I am doing a project in DOA based beamformer in fixed point DSP. I have a
doubt. Can an eigen beamformer be used in DOA based beamformer. The DOA
(MUSIC algorithm) estimator calculates the direction of the incoming signal
and beamformer designs the radiation pattern such that the main lobe is
directed towards the signal of interest and nulls towards the
interfereces.
Can I use an eigen beamformer in this setup? If so can anyone guide me to
any book or online resources that talk abt that.
Bye.

Don't know what you mean by 'DOA based beamformer.' Beamformers are used to estimate the Direction of Arrival (Acronym DoA or DOA).

OK, I assume you are talking about MUSIC.

You are talking about two different things here. If you are lucky, MUSIC helps out with estimating the diraction to narrow-band sources, whether or not you are interested in them. MUSIC does *not* cancel interferences. MUSIC may or may not work in the presence of broad-band (in DoA domain) sources.

I answered that question several months ago.

The Oct 1981 Proc IEEE article by Kay and Marple The Sept 1982 Proc IEEE article by Tufts and Kumaresan "Adaptive Filters" by Haykin should get you started. Rune
