OFDM LS Channel Estimation or Differential Modulation

This freescale appnote:

talks about all the different kinds of channel estimation schemes for
OFDM reception. They discount differential modulation, but how does
it compare with the simplest channel estimation techniques: Least
Square (LS)?

Compare in terms of what, performance? Differential will lose due to noise doubling, and least-squares depends on the quality of the estimate itself. So it depends on your SNR.
