Hello 

i would like to know a good procedure to capture images from a
webcamera and edit them on a linux system.

I don't know how to capture them, but you can sure edit them using the GIMP. I am having trouble downloading the drivers for Philips web cam
PCVC740K for a Linux sysytem.The kernel I am using is 2.4.18-14. I did
mount the device and tried installng the drivers from the link

http://www.smcc.demon.nl/webcam/
I followed the procedure
But that doesnt work. My video settings are not detected.
