equalization

I am working on a project designing linear decision feeback equalizers. I
would  greatly appriciate any links that will help me learn more about
linear equalizers and different methods used for equalizations such as
(MSE,BER,adaptive equalizers...etc)

Start with a standard linear equalizer.  Then move on to a decision 
feedback equalizer.

Several books have some basic information on DFEs, such as Haykin 
"Communications Systems".  This book also has a good section on linear 
equalizers, so that will help.

Doing some research on the IEEExplore would also yield some beneficial 
results I'm sure.

Look for papers by David Forney.
