TI CCS: Could Not Start Running

Started by perryuan June 5, 2006
Hi there,

I just installed the "CCS Platinum v3.1 (build 3.1.19.0 FET)
Evaluation". The problem is

I could run the CCS Setup. However, I could not run the CCS itself (no
any display).

My PC: Win2K Pro with SP4; ATI 3D RAGE PRO 2x AGP (with newest driver).

Any hints are welcome. TIA.

What happens when you try to run CCS? Nothing (take particular note of the icons in the system tray)? Try using a simulator instead of a real board/emulator, and then try running CCS. Does it start? Cheers! --M
Thanks for your reply.

I did select 5510 simulator. Nothing even in the system tray.

I have installed the software for numerous times. The same result.

I am running CCS 3.1.19 under Win2k/SP4. Never had problems installing it. (had to do it a few times) Check the following: (guessing only) (a) Check you have administrative privileges both for installing and running CCS. (You should not need to be an administrator to run it, but just in case) (b) Make sure that you are choosing a CPU supported by your CCS version (c) Add more than one board/simulator - This should force CCS to bring up a selection window before launching the full blown IDE. It is possible you may see some helpful information in that window.

Have you installed all the service packs, etc. from the TI website? If not, do so. When you have done that, if it still doesn't work, try bringing up task manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del, then Alt-T), and watch to see if any processes starting with "cc" are running or start and then abruptly end. Cheers! --M

Yes, I can see that cc_app.exe is running. Where is the service pack please?

I did (a) and (c). What did you mean "a CPU supported by your CCS version"? The CPU on my PC? It is AMD Athlon 900MHz.

Here: http://tinyurl.com/9c6ze Cheers! --M If you
Thanks for the information. However, I am using a trial edition.

No, I meant the target CPU. I have never used the trial edition of CCS, may be it comes with compilers for all TI DSP families. The normal version supports only the DSP you purchase it for (C2000 / F2812 in my case)
