Object Recognition

Hi,

I'd like to be able to take a video from a webcam and pin point an
object on it. For example, if I move a pen around in front of the
camera I'd like to be able to track it as it moves.

Any resources you can direct me towards are welcome,

You can set up a webcam and track objects by size/colour/c-of-g/length etc.

Lots of online documentation which if you are a newby to image processing is 
an ideal start point for experimentation.
