Image processing - Histogram comparision

Hi,
I am trying to segment a video sequence using
histogram comparision. For similarity measurement I am
using Euclidean distance method. Can anyone please
give me some insight and tell me if you had good
success with this method. The problem I am facing is
that the similarity/dissimilarity measure has high
fluctuations even though the individual frames are
quite similar. This is the same problem in both RGB
and HSV color space.
