Embedded SDK DSP Function Library Preformance Section

Started by Jacob Christ October 31, 2002
In the Embedded SDK DSP Function Library Preformance Section (12.3)
there are charts showing the instruction cycles for a particular
function. Many of these tables have colums labled AS, BFP, and NS.
For the life of me, I can't figure out what these mean. I have
searched up and down that particular piece of documentation and can't
find a thing. Some one throw me a bone (I'm sure Art knows the
answer).

Jacob

These abbreviations stand for:

AS -> Auto scaling

BFP -> Block floating point scaling

NS -> No scaling

Each one is described in the appropriate FFT documentation, for example see chapter 11.3.11, Real Fast Fourier Transform.

OK, here goes:

AS = AutoScaling
BFP = BlockFloatingPoint
NS = NoScaling

I got this from the following file:
...\src\dsp56824evm\nos\signal\dspfunc\dfrcifft.asm
Where "..." is the base directory where you installed the SDK.

Also, I did NOT find this information in the SDK documentation.
