can any one suggest me a good material to understand and implement
"Vector Quantization"..

Hi Ramu,

if you need a short introduction you could have a look at

If you need lots of info there is a very good book about VQ
A. Gersho and R. M. Gray, "Vector Quantization and Signal Compression",
Kluwer

THE reference for implementation is probably
Y. Linde, A. Buzo, and R. M. Gray, ``An Algorithm for Vector Quantizer
Design,'' IEEE Transactions on Communications, pp. 702--710, January 1980.
which you probably can google out somewhere on the net.
