We need to implement G.729 decoding/encoding in an embedded design for our Master Thesis . We would prefer a ROM-based solution for the G.729 part. We've been eyeing the Voicepump VP1xx-series which is ROM-based, however DSPG won't support our effort to use their products. Any ideas to other manufacturers that produce ROM-based G.729 chipsets? Best regards Nikolaj -- If you want t...

I wonder if any have any idea about the ITU G.729 sample implementation sample code. when we use their decoder application, then generated PCM 16-bit file is almost the same size as the input bitstream g.729 file, and we know that this is a compressed format, is there a problem, or those samples are assuming something special? Please help, Thanks Rami

I'm trying to understand G.729. The only compression algorithm I've coded before is ADPCM, and it wasn't keyed to a certain sampling rate - that is, it would be just as happy with 8100 samples per second or 7900 samples per second as it would have been with 8000, just the quality would be slightly higher or lower. With G.729, all the documentation refers to a sampling rate of 8 KHz. Is it ...

Hello. I am looking for aditional information about the CS-ACELP G.729 Codec. I have download the recomendation documentation from ITU-T web site, and that's a start. However, my knowleadge at digital telecommunications system is limited, and for that I am having trouble on figuring out how this codec works just with this recomendation file. I have also reached some telecomunications books...

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone can give me some information (links, forums, possible books) on audio transcoding topic. I've been assigned this task and I need a starting point. I'm generally interested in audio transcoding but more specific in G.729.A or G.729.AB to G.723.1A transcoding. Now the trick is the transcoding path should be direct without going through G.711 Many thank...

Hello everybody, The G.729 reference C implementation contains saturation arithmetic... My question is whether an implementation without saturation could still be conforming to the standard? If it would still be standard conformal, what would posible effects be? Also would a 48bit implementation without saturation in every step (only at the end of a correlation, filtering operation) w...

Hi all !!! I am new to this field. I want to know in detail/brief that why we need to preprocess the speech signal. As i was going through the G.729 annex B . In which it is written that if u take the input speech then u have to preprocess it before doing the manipulation/encoding it. So why we need to do this. ??? We see that if we take the audio file. then the value is stored into...

Dear Experts Well I've read a few previous posts on this aspect. The documents or references I used were: RTP Payload for Comfort Noise RFC3389. Appendix II of G.711 Annex B of G.729 Well my query is regarding implementation of a codec independent CNG: 1) Which excitation is best for this CN (white or pink)? 2) I tried with only noise energy level transmission, and generating pink...

Hi, All. I need to find out all I can about voice activity detection (VAD) and companies that supply hardware or software implementations. This could include C code for PCs or DSPs as will as hardware black boxes with a mic/audio input and some sort of output switch or interrupt. I'm especially interested in non-standard solutions (e.g., not G.729, G.723.1, AMR) since there seem to be ple...
