I wonder whether the kind of music which a society creates/likes is related to the way they think ( ie social/human psychology ) Below, I have given links to some popular ( regional Indian ) songs . Would be interested to know if non-Indians are able to appreciate it. You need realplayer to play them. Remove the word xyz from url. http://www.malayalavedhi.xyz.com/Music/Music/musi...

Hi, I have a bunch of digital photos I'd like to set to music so that the photos transition in time to the rhythm of the music. I've tried doing it manually with video editing software and it's very painstaking, but it seems to me this is the kind of thing that could be done automatically using similar logic to those irritating "visualisations" that seem to be de rigeur on all music ...

Dear all, I am working on a project that involves transmitting music through GSM phones. Since the GSM audio codec is designed for speech and not music or general audio, the quality is quite bad. I realise that this will always be a problem, but I was wondering whether there are ways to preprocess the music in order to reduce the amount of distortion. One of the things I considered was t...

Hello, everyone I am studying the MUSIC algorithm on the Internet for finding the Angle of Arrival. I have read some paper about MUSIC but I still have some confused points. The MUSIC algorithm I understand is below : At the very beginning, we need to build the data model X=AS+N -- X is the output of antennas [M*1] A is the array manifold vector (there are M antennas) [M*N] S is the vector...

MUSIC FOR THE DEAF (copied, without the background music, from http://neuraleffects.com ) Having checked out and improved some of the ideas expressed below, I've started working on the development of music for people with cochlear implants. Deaf "listeners" will be able to appreciate subliminal effects, such as evoked phantom extra ears (created by structuring the form of the sound in...

Hi, In the literature, there is a common claim made that the performance of MUSIC for direction of arrival estimation (DOA) is affected when the wrong number of directional sources is assumed. There is no argument presented to support this claim, nor any references given, just the claim. I am curious what the basis for this claim is. Although there are a variety of MUSIC-like methods an...

Hi, I am curious if anyone knows a way around a problem I've encountered with the MUSIC algorithm (Multiple Signal Classification method people use to determine a signal's angle of arrival). I've just started working with MUSIC, and since I know there are many different variations on this method, I am thinking that perhaps someone has addressed this problem. Suppose you have a uniform l...

HI everyone, I am going to do a project on implementation of DOA estimation algorithm using MUSIC. I have read the literature about MUSIC and about DOA estimation. Still I am not able to conceive the idea practically. The input signal to the array of antennas (say M antennas) is X. (consider a single snap shot) which is equal to X = (a(theta) * S) + n Then we need to find the eigen value o...

Hi Does the MUSIC algorithm works for 3D source localization? As far as I know ,it works for angles of arrival between -90 and 90 for a microphone array where 0 degrees is the angle at which the source wavefronts arrive simultaneously at all sensors. How we can apply MUSIC in 3D? If we cannot, which algorithm is the simplest one to start with; Riz _____________________________________...

HI Guys I do not have much experience on this topic, I would appreciate some guidance. I have read about MUSIC and DOA using linear array. It is easy to understand the topic. Is there any good paper/book which provides treatment of DOA and MUSIC using circular array. Many thanks. Best Regards Chintan

The only MIDI synth I like is Creative Music Synth [220] I really like it. I'd be so depressed if my SB16 ISA began to breakdown. My computer is probably one of the few computers in the entire world that still had Creative Music Synth [220] in it. Creative Music Synth [220] = SB16 ISA's FM synth. IMHO Creative Music Synth [220] is the best MIDI synth.

Hi there. The other day we were talking about if subliminal messages in music were real or not, and it ocurred to me what better people to ask than people who make a living procesing music(some of you anyway). Im just getting into the field of DSP, so havent got much experience, but I dont see how could a person hide a subliminal message in the music, and make it very hard to find via DSP means, b...

Hi, I'd be very grateful for some help with the following problem. I know almost nothing of DSP but need to learn enough to code my own software synthesizer which is capable of generating some basic sounds - enough for some simple music. I'm not looking any sound in particular, just some I can use for some music (probably acidhouse or something). It is essential that I synthesize the sam...

Hi all. Over the past few days I have commented on MUSIC and its pathologies in at least two dofferent threads. I have suggested that people do a certain excercise to see this pathology for themselves. While this is useful, it requires that the users 1) Know what to look for 2) Actually do the job of setting up the experiment So with that in mind, I have set up a very simple matla...

hi I'm implementing a MUSIC algorithm in MATLAB. My question isn't MATLAB related but more conceptual. MUSIC=Multiple Signal Classification. My "set up": 3 users, no multipath, receiver array is a 5 element circular array with inter-element spacing being equidistant. User1 is the desired user while user 2 & 3 are MAI (Multiple Access Interference). Also User1's DOA is [20 0], User2: [70 0]; Use...
