In Octave: octave:13> [a,b]=butter(2,0.4); octave:14> a a = 0.206572083826148 0.413144167652296 0.206572083826148 octave:15> [z,p,g]=butter(2,0.4); octave:16> z z = -1 -1 So I can see that the difference equation coefficients are a = [1,2,1]; multiplied by a scaling factor. These correspond to two zeros at -1. But working out the math, I think the difference equation

Hello ! I would like to perform ***real-time*** octave analysis with my C54x (100 Mips, audio signal @ 48kHz). Althought i already implement FFT, I will do it with IIR filtering. (I know the avantages of FIR decimator, but I dont think it will be usefull in this particular case). The "method" is to apply a band-pass for the higher octave, and decimate by 2 for the next octave. I already ...

Dear all!! I was first introduced to GNU Octave through DSP guru. I found it to be wonderful software but I don't think any of us are using it. Most of DSP people seen to use MATLAB. If MATLAB can do it, I think GNU Octave has it all to do it too. People at comp.dsp are great! I have always benefitted from them. I need one little help, please give Octave a try. In Matlab, I have a room impulse response. I need to plot a frequency response from 20 to 20k Hz, smoothed to 1/3 and 1/6 octave. I can calculate the ISO octave center frequencies. I see lots of RTA software that does this real-time. Anyone have the Matlab code that does this, or provide the algorithm? Thanks.

Hello people, For designing pulsed shaping and other filters on Windows 7 for Fixed-point MCUs, which is better to download (the latest version of): Octave or Scilab? And both export to a file the coefficients normalized to the needed format e.g. Qm.n? PS: Octave is claimed to be much more compatible with Matlab. hello i am looking for the easiest way to calculate 1/3 octave levels from an acquired signal sampled at a high rate (usually 350kHz). as i understand it, the usual method is to create a bunch of butterworth filters and calculate the RMS level in each band, decimating occasionally to increase resolution at lower frequencies. my question is: can the 1/3 octave levels be accurately cal...
