Hi, I am evaluating ADI SHARC 21375/371 against TI C6722/6. I am kinda lean toward Sharc because it's easier to deal with. Before making decision there are a couple of things I'd like to find out. 1. ROM use. TI has a nice DSPlib inside the ROM that has many functions we need such as FFT and FIR. I did not see an equivalent on SHARC, despite having a large ROM (4Mb on 371). Can we build ...

Just curious... to perform SHARC software development (particularly on their newer SHARC devices), you pretty much have to pony up the $$$ for VisualDSP++, yes? I found a few old projects for porting, e.g., gcc to the SHARC architecture (such as he g21k project... which hasn't been updated in well over a year), but nothing that appeared current/maintained. This surprised me a little, s...

Hi, I really liked the VDSP and VisualAudio but I have a serious double about SHARC. In my application, the program will most likely reside on SDRAM. But SHARC has an inst cache that holds only 32 instructions. Does it mean if I have a loop has more than 32 instructions, the program sequencer will have to make multiple access to the SDRAM in a loop? If this is true, SHARC is out of my l...

Hello, Anyone has experience using gnICE with SHARC processors? I'd like to know if it's possible to download a dxe file through the gnICE JTAG interface into any SHARC processor. I wouldn't care to lose emulation capabilities or integration with VisualDSP++. I know that emulation is currently restricted to propietary tools. Thanks in advance, Marcos

Hi all, I ordered a evaluation board of the ADSP-21469, which i want to use for learning & exploring sharc programming (Assembly, C, C++). I never used a sharc processor before, but i'm expierienced in programming ARM, STM32, ... What is the best way to learn sharc programming, and where can i find usefull help, tutorials etc... I already found lots of info on the analog devices website, but...

I spent a bunch of time tracking down an issue with the 21161 SHARC, so I thought I'd mention it to you guys. The issue has to do with the timing of the automatic context switching on returning from interrupts, specifically with SIMD mode and a delayed RTI instruction. On the SHARC, when certain interrupts are received, the MODE1 and ASTAT registers are automatically pushed onto the stack,...

Goodmorning to everybody I have written one assembly program in Visual dsp ver 3(simulator) by that i got .dxe file. i can able to dump this .dxe file into sharc processr board. my doubt is Sharc processor will it support this .Dxe file.If not give me the suggestion. thanking u.

I have a few question about AD SHARC DSPs. 1. I read ADSP-21375 datasheet but I still don't know whether I can use DATA port as General Purpose IO? This question concerns also ADSP-21367/8/9. 2. I heard that all new SHARC DSP (early revision) have some mistake. Is that true? I want to use ADSP-21375 which is quite new and I don't know whether that safe is. I don't want a situation that...

Hi Sharc fellows, I'm stuck with a problem which is trivial for those who've done it. However, I don't find documentation which helps me. Given, I want to multiply two stored variables with two constants from a table (all are floating point 40bit) , then sum the results and store the new result for further use. Retrieved from the working 32bit version, I'd guess something like, but n...

I am having problems with SHARC 21161 transmit serial port starting too early with external frame sync. On my board, an external device supplies a frame sync signal to the DSP. The DSP is supposed to wait until it receives the frame sync before starting the serial transfer. In this way, the external device can drive the transfer. However, I see on the oscilloscope that the SHARC starts t...

Hi all, for too long already, I'm fighting against a spurious peak on a signal which comes from an AD1836 SigmaDeltaConverter. I hope that somebody can help me to trace this down or at least find out where I'd look for the origin. Basically I have a noisy signal with very low levels . This signal is converted and brought into a SHARC 21161 DSP. Method is the same as in the talkthru ...

Hi Folks, I've been getting acquainted with the SHARC 21369 the last few days and have some questions on its memory architecture: 1. Is the basic idea a sort of crossbar switch in which the three buses, DM, PM, and IOP, are connected with the four parallel memory spaces ("blocks" in ADI's parlance) in as parallel a manner as possible? E.g., if a data value, program value, and I/O...
