Hi, Now I am working with ITU-T's G729 recommendation. The size of the input I given to this coder was 586 KB(16 bit PCM mono)and I got the output as 600 KB. Is this output's size is right or not? I think that, as an encoder it's output size should be less than input size( That is why we are encoding). The output is right, then What is the reson? Please clear my doubts immediately. Thanks in ...

hi all, G.729 recommendation states:-to predict the values of LSF a 4th oreder MA is used. Two predictions are possible .the encoder chooses which one to use and indices it with a bit in the bit stream. after prediction ,prediction error is computed .this error is sent to decoder by vector quantizing it. my que is what are these two possible predictions ? what is MA prediction? can any...

Hi all, Now I am working with ITU-T's G.729 recommentation. I have one doubt. As you know In G.729 Codec the compression rate is 1/8. But here in 10 ms, 80 words(160 bytes) are compressed into 80 bits(10 bytes). Then how can we say this is 1/8th compression? Please clear my doubt. Thanks in advance Bineesh Jose

Hi All, Now I am working with ITU-T's G.729 Recommendation. My input to encoder is one .wav file and got .bit file as output. Then I gave this .bit file as input to the Decoder and I got a .wav file as output. My first .wav(encoder input)file was properly work in Real One Player(Others also). But the Decoder output was not playing. What is the reson for it? Hi, Plz help me to use AMR Fxd Point NB codec for VoIP application on Pocket PC. Source code is downloaded from 3GPP & Tested with 3GPP test vector. But its not giving proper output in Device with real time data. But data rate while encoding is 160bytes to 250bytes (increasing) Why is it increasing instead of compressing ?? Where i need to use WB .. ? Plz help to solve this issue ...

Hi All, I am using reference G.726 code of ITU software tool library. I am now testing the code using VC++. It is said that the reference code takes A-law or Mu-law coded input and outputs the same, but the code takes 2 bytes of input( short ) and A-law coded should be one byte. I am getting wrong output. can any one help in this regard?? Regards, Vijay

Dear List: I was reading the book, "Speech Coding and Synthesis" by Kleijn & Paliwal. In page 445, from the table we see that for scalar quantization of the reflection coefficients, it costs 4 bits per parameter for 1 dB distortion. Similarly, in page 447, from the table we see that for LAR scalar quantization, it costs 3.2 bits per parameter for 1 dB distortion. The above numbers are for ...
