i'm at the point of commiting myself to a DSP now and Blackfin is in the lead, mainly cause of it's built in PCI interface. i'd heard lots of grumblings before about the available software and docs not being very, comprehensive, let's say. what's the verdict from end-users out there? i've had no unexpected problems playing with the devlopment kit and VDSP++, but i didn't do anything intensive... ijust don't want to but into anything that will slow me down when things get cooking.... thanks, mike |

I've just started to dabble with it. I noted right away that the VDSP tools lack 64-bit doubles, and there's no 64-bit integer type (ie. long long). OTOH, work is afoot to bring up a no-MMU Linux (uClinux) on this chip. So gcc will be available. If you can, stop by ADI's booth at this month's Embedded Systems East. |
