Ready can "go away" for periods of time. This is normally caused by
either the internal state machine or other bus activity by the 6711. I
would expect this period to be a few microseconds unless the DSP is executing
high priority EDMA transfers.
How long is "a long time"??
Also, have you read the HPI errata for time 6711B ??
