Help Please McBSP+EDMA

Started by sindy_555 January 16, 2004
Hello all

I'm a grad student at UT, Arlington and have been working with the
C6711 DSK for the past year. I have been reading up on McBSP based
communication. I need some help with the EDMA part. I have read
spra633a.pdf which talks about configuring the McBSP as a UART.
There, the EDMA is configured to send and accept a single burst of
data and halt. I read up on spru234 and spra636 to see how to
implement the EDMA in a mode where it accepts data continuously.
There is a provision to link the EDMA paramteres for any number of
times, so it gets reloaded, till you finally link it to Null
parameters to halt the loading.

But the way that has been described(in documents spru234 and
spra636), is very different from the way EDMA has been befined in
spra636a. Is anyone familiar with the old style of EDMA definition?
Can you suggest any documents I can read up on that?

Thank you

Sindy

For an example, check out the audio example in the folder
ti\examples\dsk6711\bios\audio - this is an example that uses EDMA and the
McBSP to stream digital audio data through the codec.
