Hi, I am new to DSP and have been thinking about picking up Dr. Chassing's last book, I think I will wait for this one as it sounds more comprehensive encompassing two different processors. I haven't yet bought hardware. I have noticed C6711 DSKs and EVMs for sale on eBay in the past. Does anyone have an opinion what hardware to buy? As well what does the group think of Dr. Chassing's book offerings? Thank you. --- In , "Webmaster" <webmaster@d...> wrote: > A message from Rulph Chassaing: > ____________________________________________ > > Announcing my new book (scheduled for publication on November 19): "Digital > Signal Processing with the C6713 and C6416 DSK," Wiley, 2005. Hello 'fourier2006',
A few random comments that reflect my own prejudiced opinion - since
what is 'best' can vary from person to person -
1. Dr Chassaing's books are alway very good - you just need to
match the book with your hardware.
2. The 6713 DSK replaced the 6711 DSK and has better analog I/O.
3. The 6416 has more raw horsepower, but is fixed point only.
4. Beware - some of the suff you see on eBay is very old which means that
the version of CCS is very old.
If you need fixed point only, max speed go with 6416 DSK. If you need floating point, go with 6713 DSK. If you don't know, buy the book first then decide. mikedunn fourier2006 <f...@yahoo.com> wrote: Hi, |

Fourier2006-(Thats an interesting name? You graduating in 2006 or something???) Dr. Chassaing's books are very useful for the to-be practioner's of DSP. I used his previous book on c6x DSK(6711 and 6211) and i found it extremely well structured and purposeful.Of the many things what i found very helpful was an entire chapter devoted to the I/O techniques using AD535. In hindsight This hepled me save a lot of sweat when i was working on few projects. Normally i would have just jumped onto the process architecture and take on the CODEC's issues as when required. I have always struggled with this approach to be honest but if you follow his book you wouldnt fall into that trap. Anyways, I understand that one of the concerns of folks buying target oriented books is that they suspect that there is going to be lots of *manual reproduction* (as opposed to throwing more light on to dark/hidden areas of the manual) and padding up of the book with code listings. Fear not that with Dr.Chassaing! Bests. --Bhooshan.N.Iyer ----Original Message Follows---- From: "fourier2006" <> To: Subject: [c6x] Re: Announcing New Book by Rulph Chassaing Date: Sat, 06 Nov 2004 17:24:17 -0000 Hi, I am new to DSP and have been thinking about picking up Dr. Chassing's last book, I think I will wait for this one as it sounds more comprehensive encompassing two different processors.
