playing audio out of dsk6711 through ad535
Started by ●April 3, 2005
Hi everybody,
I have a simple question. I am using the DSK6711 which has an AD535 on board. The AD535 has the sampling frequency limited to 8 Khz. Does this also mean that i will be unable to play out audio through the ad535 at a higher frequency, or is it just that the input analog signal will be sampled only at 8 Khz?
Thanks and regards

Sunil:
It looks like the AD535 is, actually was since it's now considered obsolete,
a Voice Codec. The data sheet suggests that it can go up to input/output
rate of 11.025 kHz (might be constrained to 8 kHz on the 6711 DSK), so I
think you're limited to just voice handling.
I <believe> TI has a PCM3003 audio codec daughtercard, which has much larger
range - that would probably be the best avenue - unless someone has any
other ideas.

hi,
AD535 has a fixed sampling rate of 8khz.
Even if u pass audio through it, u will be able to get only frequencies
between 0 to 4 khz.
And i guess there is a antialiasing filter there so if a analog signal more
than 4khz. is passed it won't get aliased.

hi,
just a suggestion, if u r looking out for using a DSK for an audio
application , u can go for TMS320C6713 DSK.
Which has got a PCM3XXX series codec in it and can support multiple
sampling rates.
