L2 config

Started by akalya May 15, 2002

Hi all !

I am having trouble using the L2 config register in the C6711 DSK. I
try to EDMA data from SDRAM into L2, and do some processing on it.

If I configure 16K of L2 to be Cache, and enable caching for the
SDRAM (MAR0 = 1), the EDMA does not do the correct transfers anymore.
I had to configure some of L2 to be cache since the code wont fit in
the internal RAM. I am also sure there arent memory coherency issues
since I dont directly write to or read from SDRAM, its only through
EDMAs.

I would really appreciate any leads or insights,

Thank you
ka

Have you studied up on the CACHE clean functions ?
Double check what they do and when you should use them.
From your email, it sounds like you might already have this
part sorted out.

Are you saying that you have
48 k SRAM
16 k cache

How much data are you trying to process ?

I would try doing
16 k SRAM
48 k cache

And just process the data out of SDRAM. The L2 cache controller on the
C6711 will take care of the cache for you.
