CCS or Eclipse

Started by ma July 14, 2005
Hello,

We are developing code for C6000. I heard that TI is moving to Eclipse.
Is it true? Does it mean that our investment in CCS will loose?

Where can I find more information about TI and Eclipse?

Best regards

You mean CCS is being eclipsed? By whom? eclipse, ofcourse! Well CCS is not exactly perfection in every sense but it sure is TI's favourite child, so AFAICS, CCS stays put.

Thanks.
I heard that TI moving to use Eclipse for its development suite. Is it true?
Is there any report on TI interest in Eclipse technology?

Well linux based development on TI platforms like OMAP is already happening using eclipse-like IDE through montavista,so in that sense TI is already using eclipse technology. But their as far as their DSP's are concerned AFIK CCS will continue to be the sole window (or atleast one of the windows). So your worries of loosing your investment in CCS baseless and speculative. --Bhooshan This message was sent using the Comp.DSP web interface on www.DSPRelated.com
Right now TI has a release called "Code Composer Essentials" which is based
on Eclipse 3.0. It supports only the MSP430 family of microcontrollers.

TI just announced CCS 3.1 Platinum a few days ago. *IF* TI moves everything
to Eclipse I'm sure it's a few years out. I wouldn't fret over it.
