Conversion From Pixel to Millimeter

Started by beatrix hedwig June 13, 2006
Dear all

I have a trouble in converting Pixel to Milimeter in order to find the size
of a ROI (region of interest) from image.
What is relationship between 1 pixel and 1 milimeter? Are they have same
meaning?
Thank you.

Regards,
Beatrix
Beatrix,
I don't believe you can actually just plug in a formula for this conversion. If so I'd like to know. You'll have to do some pre-processing depending on the quality of your camera and the distance away from the image. I recommend taking a picture of a square grid in which you know the x and y distance of each square. Capture this grid image. If your camera is not square to the image you might notice that the squares will actually show some convex or concave properties. Or a quick approach would be just take a picture of a ruler. You should be able to make a manual conversion from here. Hope this helps
