Stop vs Fast Stop mode

Started by Hardeep May 20, 2006
Hi,

I am using the DSP56858. I have a question about the two Stop modes
available with this DSP. In the manual it mentions that when OMR6_SD
is set to zero, the SIM provides an extreme low power Stop mode by
shutting down the PLL. When OMR6_SD is set to one, the SIM supports a
fast Stop mode recovery and does not affect the state of the PLL when
Stop mode is entered. How do I set this OMR6_SD bit? From the diagram,
it seems to be an unaccessible core signal.

In a previous post, someone was talking about disabling the PLL when
entering Stop mode (to decrease the power consumption). Should I be
doing so aswell, even though the SIM automatically asserts it's
PLL_SHUTDOWN output causing the PLL to be disabled?

Thank you.
