I've just received my new 5416 dsk and am a little annoyed with the
lack of documentation compared to the 5402. I have a question that one of you might be able to answer: Is the tmx320 on the 5416 another dsp used exclusively for the usb to jtag interface? I mean there is no documentation whatsoever on the usb interface of the 5416 dsk . Thank you, Joel |

Joel, I believe the USB circuitry on the 5416 is proprietary to Spectrum Digital. I also searched the TI site for that TMX chip and couldn't find it. I don't think the intention of the DSK is for users to develop USB applications, but rather, DSP applications. The USB port is just a way of interfacing the DSK to the PC. The details are not necessary to know. Production parts have the TMS prefix on them. I haven't seen the 5416 DSK so I can't comment on USB, except that they ought to have included a schematic of the board with it.
