Hello c6x, I bought the tms320c6711 DSK board and also the EVM tms320c6701/6201 board. In these packeges I've found two release of code composer .... all versions are 2.1. If I install the EVM version it install the driver dor this board. When I try to install the DSK version it don't recognize the installed version and it try to create a new installation of code composer. Do you known if there are some methods to use all boards in one systems without install two Code Composer ? There are many things that I don't understand ..... Why the EVM tms320c6701-6201 price is 3500$ and the DSK TMS320C6711 price is only 295$ ? When I've asked to Texas commercial the answer was "Because in EVM there is also a Code Composer license". The DSK product includes a version of CCS that is limited in
size and scope in the following ways:
2) The DSK version does not include the simulator, while the EVM / Full version of CCS includes the simulator. The simulator will allow a user to simulate the operation of other C6000 DSP Family members, not just the C6x01 processor on the board. Regards,

Hello c6x, It's fantastic ! I bought 1 EVM board (3500$) and 1 DSK board (295$) with 2 code composer license one months ago and now ... surprise ! Today I received a Texas letter with the software registration renewal for ONLY 600$ for every license. It's possible that only after 1 months I must to renew the Code Composer license ? Hey all, As I understand it the 'initial update license' for CCS is valid for only 30 days from initial purchase. This is, I believe, indicated on the registration card that comes with CCS's install disc. (I purchased an imaging SDK at the TI Conference this fall which included a full CCS suite) It's my understanding that once the software is installed and registered with TI, you are granted 30 days of support and updates. After this period, you are required to have the $600.00 US yearly support license in place to obtain further updates/support. So I really don't think the date matters when the yearly license goes into effect - you are given a year of updates/support from the point you register. The remainder of the year from whenever you purchase CCS doesn't really matter - only the 30 days after it gets installed. As I remember it, the yearly subscription notice appeared in the mail here too just about a month after I registered the software initially, when the 30 day period ran out. I think your renewal just happened to coincide with the end of the year. :> You really have nothing to lose all around as far as I can see.
