For that matter, would you feel comfortable if one of your _male_ colleagues declared publicly that you were hot, and that he wanted to work closely with you? -- www.wescottdesign.com

Like a woman won't drive across the country wearing a diaper for a man. Hmmm, maybe that isn't the best example... -- Rick

Hi, Richard. Unfortunately I haven't clarified that it was a guess. I have failed to find Ms. Venosa's thesis either (perhaps it's in Italian???), but she is the youngest of the three authors, and she has reportedly received her PhD degree a couple years prior to the publication of the book. Regards, Evgeny.

Hi Robert, You're right. I listed Eric, Randy, and Grant because I've met them and I know what they look like. I don't know what Greg looks like. For all I know, Greg may look like Brad Pitt, or maybe George Clooney.

Ya' know, I worked on that IEEE magazine column for nine years and often scrambled like crazy to find someone to write a "Tip & Trick" article because I had to produce a new article every two months. I kept my eyes and ears open for any DSP info *from anyone* that might lead to an article. More than once I begged and pleaded to various people to write a manuscript for me. Years ago Greg Berchin mentioned something on comp.dsp about a "trick" of his to design specialized filters. I e-mailed Greg and talked him into writing an article manuscript. He and I worked on that material for a couple of months massaging it into the appropriate form and style for my magazine column. That's how Greg's article came into being. Robert, I would have loved to have had an article written by you. I'm serious.

Typo! That was supposed to be "Life" not Like."

That's one way of looking at it, but when we are talking about interactions between humans (e.g. a conference), it might be hard to distinguish fascination with someone's results from fascination with how well they are presented. Regards, Evgeny.

Whew! Where'd that old proverb come from, Folsom Prison? [-Rick-]

Hi Rick, I understand our point. Ever heard of Jodi Arias? Travis Alexander wished he'd never heard of her. [-Rick-]

Hi Robert, I just now saw yesterday's post by bitrex pointing to a web page where you discuss 'Wavetable interpolation'. I wish I'd seen that wavetable interpolation material years ago when I was looking for potential IEEE column articles. [-Rick-]

Unlike Eric, you misunderstood my post. If you reread my post you'll see that I made no mention of the quality of Ms. Venosa's work. Don't be upset Tim. If you wish, in the future I'll submit all my potential posts to you for your prior approval before I post them here. [-Rick-]
