Hello all: Though my question is not in the strict DSP, I cannot find another appropriate forum to discuss about it. As a hobby, I am interested in a PLL simulation. On numerous tutorials, I know there are current sources in a charge pump type phase detector. I realize that the current source makes the voltage cross the capacitor linearly increase. It is seen the Laplace transform of the RC ...

Dear All, I use an AD9371 board and on it the ADC samples the input at 1228 MHz, then the sampled data is decimated by 5 and a downsampling FIR filter reduces the output rate to 122.8 MSPS. This is what I have as an input to the FPGA where demodulation occurs. The signal to be demodulated is an 80 MHz wide QPSK modulated one. For ideal demodulation I need a 320 MSPS (x4 symbol rate). My quest...

I enjoyed the article referenced below and noted that it said that 60GHz is the frequency which Oxygen molecules absorbed RF. Presumably other molecules have other frequencies, maybe some of them unknown at present which do the same thing. Can we therefore do the frequency response of an unknown Gas by passing RF through it? In that way finding chemical composition Thanks

I was looking through some open-source package, wherein the band-pass filter is described as ORMSBY. However, it has Hanning tapers, presumably to reduce the ringing/sidelobes in time domain. So is the name ORMSBY rather loosely defined?

What happens to the autocorrelation when the underlying signal is squared/cubed?

Hi, Suppose I have the autocorrelation function which results from Gaussian white noise passing through a 1st order LTI system, analytically: Ryy(tau) = 1/RC sigma^2/2 exp(-|tau|/RC) How does Rzz(tau) look when z=y^3 ? Peter PS: In the absense of the LTI system, trivially Rzz=delta(0) * 15*sigma^6/2 ... from E((x^3)^2)=E(x^6)=15*sigma^6

Hi, In the Russian culture it's traditional to formally remember a deceased family member, or friend, 40 days after the day of their passing. Today it's been 40 days since Vladimir Vassilevsky left this world. My memory of Vlad, as his friends called him, is that he was a highly skilled engineer. Over the years of exchanging signal processing ideas with Vlad I had the distinct...

Text books are filled with info on the DAC zero order hold and it appears on the internet everywhere. Basically its TF is (1-exp(-sT))/s where T i sampling interval. Usually they take 1-z^-1 in cascade with the system transfer function and 1/s is merged into the system. If the system is G(s) then they convert (1/s)G(s) to the z domain. Doesn't this seem a little old fashioned nowada

Dear DSP Gurus, I have to demodulate a 50 MHz wide (3 dB bandwidth) OQPSK modulates Signal. The Signal properties are: OQPSK Modulated AWGN channel Has Doppler Shift (5 KHz/sec max) Pulse shaping filtered (0.35) Viterbi+RS The HW I am using is: Zero IF Receiver ADC on I&Q channels (12 bit output) Has a signal processor (Output is IQ corrected,DC Removed,AGC) The Output is: I ...
